The course focuses on the examination of personal and corporate value systems, as well as ethical decision-making processes in various contexts. It encourages students to investigate their own beliefs, purposes, and attitudes and considers how these influence both individual actions and organizational practices. A central theme is the exploration of ethical dimensions within organizational structures, fostering a deeper understanding of how values shape workplace ethics. Through this study, students will develop a personal code of ethics and learn to apply principles of values-based leadership effectively in organizational environments.
My reading responses reflect the course's focus on personal and corporate value systems, as well as ethical decision-making processes, by examining how beliefs and values influence individual behavior and organizational practices. In "Every Good Endeavor," Keller highlights the importance of aligning work with Christian ethical standards, encouraging me to consider how love, dignity, and justice shape workplace dynamics and ethical conduct. Similarly, Chaufen's exploration of distributive justice and fair wages illustrates the necessity of ethical principles in economic activities. By reflecting on these themes, I can apply a values-based leadership approach in the business world, ensuring that personal ethics guide my decision-making and contribute positively to organizational culture. This understanding fosters a sense of responsibility and integrity, essential for creating ethical workplaces across various careers.
